This afternoon Calum, Glen and myself embarked on the start of our Surround Sound project aimed at picking up seascapes and forestscapes with the SoundField SPS200 Surround Sound Microphone. Perfect for this type of recording due to its compact size, 4 capsules attached to one unit which only needs one Mic stand to hold in place.

For this the Sound Devices 788T Portable Audio Recorder was used, as it has inputs for eight XLR's, where we were using four today with the SoundField and the ability to run off of battery power.

Also as well the Sennheiser MKH-418-S Midside Stereo shotgun Mic was used for spot recordings, directly from the sea, into areas of bird sound and while in the forest area towards the stream within it.

Location wise, Lower Largo beach was selected for the Seascape are, mainly for its secluded location, lack of traffic and for it being known as a very safe area to conduct these recordings.

For the Forest area Keil's Den was the location of choice, located on the outskirts of Lower Largo this area is also secluded with very little footfall and traffic which allowed for decent timed recordings without interruption
