Midi and Rewire

During the recording of Need You Now the Roland Digital Piano was used to create the Piano track but it also supplied a Midi annotation during the recording.

This Midi recording was used to add in Air's MiniGrand Plugin to add extra depth to the already recorded Piano on the instrument tracks.

On top of this as the Intro to the song was not recorded, a bit of Midi Annotation was programmed into Protools to handle this section, and rather then have MiniGrand play this, the Rewire plugin was setup so that the Midi would trigger events within Ableton, in this case a Grand Piano. Reverb was added to the Piano to give a ambiant sound to the intro as well before it goes into a dry sounding Piano for the main recording.
