Finishing off the Studio Recording

The original plan was to have the male vocals recorded Last week on the same day as we recorded the Piano segment of the song, but sadly due to unforeseen circumstances our vocalist couldn't join us.

But thankfully today there was no such problems, so within the space of an hour we were able to lay down the male vocals to the near completed recording of Need You Now.

For this, a Tube based Compressor was added to the signal chain so we could apply some light compression to the vocals as we recorded. And with the original song being recorded with a Tube Tech compressor this at least brought our recording closer to how the original was made.

The Mic of choice for the male vocals is the Neumann U87 which again is the mic used during the production of the song, at least where the male vocals was concerned (not on the original but it was on subsequent recordings made, such as the acoustic version our cover is based upon)
