Plan

The plan for project two is to record an acoustic version of Need You Now by Lady Antebellum following the production techniques used by the group and their producer paul worley.

This will consist of recording Acoustic guitar using a guitar herd method where the guitar segment is recorded a number of times to create a strong acoustic rhythm segment. The Mics of choice for this will be the KM184’s in a spaced pair setup one pointing down to the body and the other pointing up towards the 12th fret.

The Acoustic Guitar will be played by Liam

Piano will be recorded with the Roland digital piano with both a DI connection for the audio feed and also the Midi connection so that we can have the annotation available for other options in regard to the instrument.

The Piano will be played by Liam

Vocals will consist of both a male and female vocalist with different mic setups in use.

Male vocals will be recorded using a U87 mic with the aim of using the liquid channel set to a tube-tech compressor emulation.

Male vocals will be performed by Glen

Female vocals will be recorded using the KM184 as we do not have a u67 and the 184 matches the frequency response closest. In addition a TLM103 will be used for a comparison base although only one of the mic recordings will be used. Also the tube-tech compressor would be the preference for use as well.

Female vocals will be performed by Stephany
